Board Games for Brand Heroes

In 2011 national polish telecom was looking for new ways to promote brand heroes. I designed & prototyped three original board games meant to be distributed in cafes, bars, holiday resorts, points of sale and among customers. The series consists of three parts with different game mechanics.

The first game got produced and distributed in 10.000 copies and shortlisted for Golden Arrow Award in 2012. The second and third game got rescheduled and than cancelled due to company’s rebranding and following changes in communication.

Fun Pack City is a simple to learn and hard to master hand management card game in which players are trying to provide various telecommunication services around an expanding city. Players take turns by playing cards and trying to collect streets by providing a complete set of services. Every street is worth points and sets of matching streets give bonuses. Player with the most points wins the game. For additional fun every card is packed with fun facts and trivia about the history of telecommunications.

Skyscrapper is an area control game with rapidly changing environment. Players help residents of a skyscraper to impress their neighbours by having the best services possible. Every week there are random events matching some of neighbours interests (e.g important football match) so players plan upgrades to score points for every jealous person.

The Internet Clinic is a hilarious take on worker placement mechanic. Players become ward heads of a clinic for patients with funny internet related conditions like “pixel rush”, “broadbandache” or “channelepsy”. The gameplay consists of hiring specialist like WiFiatrists, Channelogists and Phonepractors, renting fancy equipment and ordering treatments while competing for prestige, fame and awards.
